Bath Lions Advance to Lehigh Valley Youth Football League Championship
The Bath Lions 130lb football team beat the Marian Lil Colts 21-20 in overtime to advance to the championship game on Saturday November 8th. After finishing the regular season with a record of 6-2 the Lions have won back to back playoff games. Marian jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the 2nd quarter and carried the lead into halftime. After stopping the Lil Colts on their first possession of the 2nd half the Lions took control of the game and began their comeback. Behind the strong running of Trey Deichman and Josh Seeley the Lions drove down to the one yard line. QB Josh Seeley then finished the drive with a QB sneak for the touchdown. Seeley then threw a pass to TE Cory Croll for the Extra point to make the score 14-7. With a huge crowd on hand to cheer on the Lions, the defense led by Logan Engleby, Trey Deichman, Justin Burger, Justin Pintarich, and Devon Saul held Marian and the Lions got the ball back after a punt, on their own 20 yard line. The Lions drove 80 yards in 7 Minutes and scored on a pass from Seeley to Devon Saul and after Seeley ran in for the extra point the game was tied with one minute left. After the Lions defense held yet again the game went to overtime. The Lions got the ball first and scored on the first play when Josh Seeley ran in from 10 yards out. Trey Deichman then ran in for the extra point to put the Lions ahead 21-14. Marian then had a chance to tie the game, and did score but they missed the extra point and the Lions completed a tremendous comeback with a 21-20 victory. The team would like to thank the parents and friends who cheered them on to their victory, the crowd noise was unbelievable. Also the cheerleaders who supported them all year long by doing pushups for every point the team scored.
The girls have done over 500 push ups this year by doing 7 and then 14 and then 21 and so on. Great job girls! The 100lb cheerleaders have even joined the 130 squad for the playoff run! The championship game is at Southern Lehigh against the Fullerton Ramblers on Saturday November 8th at 2:00. Come on out and be a part of the excitement and cheer for the kids of our community!
